Taxpayers detect the amount and value of their receivables, debts and assets at a specific date by carrying out the inventory, count, control and correction procedures. These procedures may be qualified as stocktaking procedures and it is an obligation to perform these at the end of each period. In addition, it is also possible to perform them within the period. Actual shortages that arise as a result of inventory are followed in ‘‘197-Inventory and Delivery Shortages Account’’ and surpluses that arise according to the recorded value are followed in “397 – Inventory and Delivery Surpluses Account”. Inventory shortages and surpluses followed by taxpayers in temporary accounts during the accounting period must be reflected on the operating accounts depending on the result of the actual inventory that is carried out as of the end of period. Therefore, the surpluses that occur in the cash account must be added to the profit accounts and the shortages must be written as expenses. However, this expense is an expense which is not accepted in terms of tax laws, and therefore it must be included again in income in the statement.
